Gabrielle Daniels talks about the Equal Justice Initiative

Gabri​e​lle Daniels is a project manager with the Equal Justice Initiative. The EJI was founded by attorney Bryan Stevenson. HIs memoir, Just Mercy, was the basis for an acclaimed movie about Stevenson’s battle to win justice for Walter McMillian, an innocent Alabama man sentenced to death for a crime he did not commitThe EJI, based in Montgomery, Ala., continues to work for an end to mass incarceration and excessive punishment and for basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in the United States.

Ms. Daniels will talk about the current work of the EJI and its two facilities in Montgomery, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum: from Slavery to Mass Incarceration.

Ms. Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in public health from the Yale School of Public Health. In 2017 she completed a Masters-Fellowship from the Duke Divinity School, concentrating in Theology, Medicine and Culture.
