Come for the music,
stay for a light lunch
and great conversation
We’re celebrating our move to our new campus on the banks of the Heiferhorn Creek. Join us for coffee and donuts beginning about 10:30 a.m. Piano preludes will start at 10:45 a.m. The dedication itself begins at 11 a.m. sharp, with our special guests, the Samford University A Capella Choir. Then stay for light refreshments and conversation after the service.
This event will acknowledge major contributions to our fellowship from the Jordan family. For example, we just took delivery of a brand new Yamaha baby grand piano—donated by by two sisters, Meredith Jordan Braddy of Talbotton, Ga., and Marjorie Jordan Spires of Alexandria, Va. Our new Grace Fellowship Hall is named after long-time member Grace Jordan and her late husband, George.
However, we could not have completed this project without significant contributions of time, talent and money from many fellowship members and from family and friends from thoughout the region and beyond. We have many people to thank and lots to celebrate.
The dedication is open to the public—and especially to our friends and neighbors. We think the music will guarantee and interesting morning. Singers from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., will perform several hymns and songs. (You can check them out on YouTube. They are amazing.)
The keystone principle of Unitarian Universalism is the idea that all of us have the right to a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. We support each other in that quest, and now we’re ready to welcome new friends to our journey. Lots of new friends! We invite you to help us make Unitarian Universalist history on the banks of Heiferhorn Creek on Oct. 18.
Please note that for this special event, the start time and the order of our regular Sunday service will be slightly altered. Here are some highlights:
- Come early, about 10:30 a.m. or so, for coffee, donuts and conversation.
- Pianist Joanne Larson will begin playing about 10:45 a.m., and we’ll encourage people to find their seats. (That will be easy. Wait till you hear Joanne and our new piano.)

- All 35 member of the Samford University A Capella Choir will start us off, and they’ll sing a number of times throughout the service.

- Jerry Jordan, who is Grace’s son and a long-time friend and supporter of the fellowship, will talk about his parents and their special role in his life.
- Jerry’s wife, Jean Jordan, will sing a solo, and their son, Jacob Jordan will perform a classical guitar solo.
- Adjunct Minister, Ed Wilson will talk briefly about our fellowship’s journey to the new campus, and he’ll conduct a short but original “Act of Dedication.”
