Tuesday, Sept. 27
5 p.m.—Women’s Book Club. This month Tribe by Sebastian Junger.

Wednesday, Sept. 28
6 p.m.—UU Singers practice. We’re an informal group that encourages new members. Join us Wednesday’s at 6 p.m. or Sunday at 9:30 a.m., just before the service.
7 p.m.—Wednesday Discussion Group. This week: “Debunking Myths.”

Friday, Sept. 30
Noon—UU Media Lunch. Open to anyone who wants to discuss current events, media coverage thereof or just about anything else. This week at Caffe Amici in Columbus.

Sunday, Oct. 2
Childcare available from 9:30 a.m. until noon. It’s the first Sunday of the month, so everyone’s welcome to stay for a hot-dish potluck. If you’re a visitor, just bring an appetite. We’ll have plenty.

9:30 a.m.—Adult Religious Education. This week, “Building Your Own Theology.” This is part of a series, but you can still join in.
9:30 a.m. UU Singers practice. We run through this songs for this morning’s service. Please join us if you’d like to stand up and sing.
10:30 a.m. Coffee and conversation before the service.
10:45 a.m. Sunday Service. This week’s speaker is playwright Molly Gross, who will talk about “A Woman’s Place: exploring a working mother’s sense of place and identity in the 21st century.”*
10:50 a.m. Children’s Religious Education. The kids join us for the first few minutes of the service, which includes a children’s story. Then they adjourn to a classroom for their own program. This week they’ll learn about our Fourth Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. (Presented in a kid-friendly way.)

 

*More about Molly:

Molly Gross has a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from the University of California Riverside and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater from the University of Arizona. She is working on a master’s degree in English at Georgia Southwestern. State University. Several of her plays have been read or produced in California and two have been produced in Cuthbert, Ga., since 2014. Her professional passions include writing, teaching, and theater, and she is fortunate to be able to balance all three at Andrew College in Cuthbert, where she teaches composition and speech and paints the occasional theater set.
