Reduce stress, improve suppleness and enhance your sense of wellbeing in this unique course. Certified yoga instructor Brooke Ayoub will lead “Mindfulness and Yoga” on four consecutive Monday
evenings, beginning Jan. 16, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Columbus, Ga. No previous yoga training is needed for this gentle course, which emphasizes breathing, mindfulness and basic poses.
Here are the details:
- Four consecutive Mondays—Jan. 16, 23, 30 and Feb 6
- 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Total course cost—$60 per person
- Class size is limited; advance registration required.

Brooke Ayoub is has trained in Classical Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Iyengar, Restorative and wall yoga. She also trained with Matthew Sanford of Mind Body Solutions to work with individuals with disabilities and limited movement. She received her Iyengar Yoga and wall yoga training under the direction of Bryan Legere. Brooke is also trained in mindfulness meditation practice, and she is an Ayurveda specialist practitioner through the Himalayan Institute. In addition, she offers “Ecotherapy” for clients on outdoor retreats.
Course topics and activities for “Mindfulness and Yoga” include:
- Class One (Jan. 16): An introduction to mindfulness, mindfulness practice, and introductions to yoga and the first sutras.
- Class Two (Jan. 23): An introduction to Pranayama (breathing), Asanas (poses) and more mindfulness practice techniques.
- Class Three (Jan. 30): Mindfulness and eating, Nadi Sodhana (alternate nasal breathing) and other practice techniques.
- Class Four (Feb. 6): Mindfulness walking meditation and complete practice of all the Asanas (poses) covered during previous sessions.
These classes are offered by special arrangement with the Unitarian Universalists Fellowship of Columbus. The UUFC and Ayoub are not affiliated, but the UUFC supports its members and friends in their own unique search for truth and meaning.
