The Unitarian Universalist Flower Ceremony is sometimes referred to as the Flower Communion or the Flower Festival. “We remember people through flowers, volunteer service leader Connie Ussery says.
Norbert Capek, a Unitarian minister in Prague, Czechoslovakia, created the ritual in 1923. His wife, the Rev. Maya Capek, brought it to the United States. (Norbert Capek died in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II.)

The Flower Ceremony concept is simple. When we can meet together, everyone brings a flower. We place them in vases and after the service everyone leaves with a real flower.
This Sunday’s service, which will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel, will be different but just as powerful. Connie has asked people to send her stories people and photos or pictures of flowers they associate with them. How appropriate for “Earth Month.”
