The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated this year November 2.

According to tradition, souls of the dead return on this day to visit family. Some celebrate the day by visiting the graves or creating altars to remember loved ones. Fellowship President Hal Midgette will lead us in our own unique celebration of this tradition, including remembrances of family and friends.

Our informal motto is “Deeds before creeds.” Unitarian Universalism has roots in Christianity, but UU continues to evolve, drawing inspiration from many sources. The UU Fellowship of Columbus is truly non-denominational. Members subscribe to a range of religious, philosophical and ethical traditions. We are Christians, Jews, Buddhists, atheists, agnostics, humanists, Wiccans and more.

Our Fellowship is meeting in person again, but we still take precautions. Our guidelines.

• We encourage people to be vaccinated and boosted to protect against COVID. (We think our Fellowship is nearly 100 percent vaccinated (honor system) but we don’t require vaccination cards.)
• We encourage social distancing in Grace Fellowship Hall.
• Masks are optional, and we have a section for people who want to wear them and distance themselves from people who don’t.)
• We’ve improved ventilation in Grace Fellowship Hall.
• We also watch local COVID statistics, and we’re prepared to change our procedures when warranted. Check this website for changes.
