Judy Barnett on Church, State and Sex Ed

Sex education in Columbus public schools focuses on abstinence. Judy Barnett will talk about how the program ignores information that’s important for students about to become adults.

Judy joined our Fellowship in 2017. She’s a health care professional who worked as a nurse in intensive care and in emergency medicine before becoming a certified nurse anesthetist. Judy has worked in all the hospitals in Columbus, and she’s also a certified yoga instructor.

Judy grew up as a Methodist in Hampton, Ga, just south of Atlanta, and she attended the Georgia Baptists School of Nursing. Her husband John also is an anesthetist. They have two daughters and five granddaughters.

Our Fellowship has returned to meeting in person for Sunday services at 11 a.m., with some restrictions. Seating has been designed to make social distancing easier, and we don’t sing together. (But we do have music!) Almost all our members have been vaccinated against COVID-19, so masks are optional. Visitors are welcome. If you have not completed the vaccination process, please do wear a mask and observe social distancing.
