Poet and translator Dan Veach

Dan Veach, our guest speaker, is an award-winning poet and translator of poetry. He founded the Atlanta Review, which he edited for two decades.

Sunday services begin at 11 a.m. but join us early for coffee and conversation. Services feature a speaker—either a member of the Fellowship or a guest. We often focus on the principles and values of Unitarian Universalism, but our interests are wide-ranging. Services also include music, readings, meditation and opportunities (always optional) to share your own thoughts.

Visitors and guests are always welcome at our liberal, progressive Fellowship.

Dan Veach also is a musician (bass clarinet) and a bicyclist. His collection of poems and Chinese ink paintings, Elephant Water, won the Georgia Author of the Year Award, and he received the Georgia Writers Lifetime Achievement Award. His translations from Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, and Anglo-Saxon have won the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize and the Independent Publisher Book Award.

Dan moved to Columbus after retiring from the Atlanta Review. There’s an interesting story about why he chose Columbus. It involves poetry and lunchboxes. Join us Sunday morning, Oct. 6, to learn more.
