Our speaker this Sunday, Rick Spradlin, explores the relationship between Unitarian Universalism and some of life’s biggest questions.

Easter is an interesting celebration for Unitarian Universalists. Unitarianism, after all, was founded on the idea that there is one God, not a trinity, which complicates the Easter story. Our religion has since evolved to include wisdom from many traditions and ethical systems. Rick Spradlin will talk Sunday about “Easter: Light of Life.”

Rick Spradlin examines religions from a Unitarian Universalist persepective, which is unique.

Unitarians and Universalists, two traditionally liberal religions, combined in 1961 into Unitarian Universalists, or “UU” for short. Our lay leader, Rick Spradlin will talk about what Universalists in particular brought to  that union.

Rick Spradlin, is a longtime educator and a lifelong student of comparative religion, philosophy and ethics.

One of the Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism is “the inherent worth and dignity of all people.” Lay leader Rick Spradlin will talk about applying that principle.

The full title of Rick Spradlin’s talk is “What My Study of Disabilities Has Taught Me So Far: 30 Years as a Special Education Teacher.” Rick teaches special education at Johnson Elementary here in Muscogee County, and he’s a frequent speaker at our Sunday services.

Our lay leader Rick Spradlin says that to turn over a new leaf “we need to break with the branch of the old.” He’ll talk about building new habits in the new year.

When facing dark times, it helps to remember we all have a light within. Fellowship member Rick Spradlin will talk about finding that light. This Sunday also is our First Sunday Hot-Dish Lunch—a monthly event. If you’re a visitor, just bring an appetite. It’s a great way to get to know us.
