Our February program theme is “Celebrating the Arts.” Join us this Sunday (Feb. 12) for a program that explores “Literature as Inspiration.” (See below.) Here are the details for this week’s activities. You don’t have to be a member to attend. Visitors are welcome at all activities. (Events are at our Heiferhorn Way campus unless otherwise noted.)
Monday, Feb. 6
6:30 p.m. “Mindfulness and Yoga” class. This four-week course is full and ends week, but use our contact page to email us if you’re interested in future classes.
Wednesday, Feb. 8
6 p.m. UU Singers practice is cancelled for this week, because several members are attending the “Left or right, we all know wrong” meeting at the Columbus Library’s main branch on Macon Road. The practice resumes Feb. 15. All voices welcome.
7 p.m. Wednesday Night Discussion Group. This week’s topic: “Altruism: Is It Always a Good Thing?”
Thursday, Feb. 9
6:15 p.m. UU Women will meet at the Greystone Farms clubhouse off Blackmon Road for dessert and drinks to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Friday, Feb. 10
12:30 p.m. The UU Media Lunch, aka the Friday Lunch group. Founded by journalists. Open to all. We discuss events of the day and solve world crises. All points of view welcome. This week at the Mandarin Cafe on Veterans Parkway, near the Mellow Mushroom.
Sunday, Feb. 2
Childcare is available from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
9:30 a.m. Adult Religious Education. “History of the Bible,” led by Rick Spradlin.
9:30 a.m. UU Singers practice.
10:30 a.m. Coffee and conversation before the service.
10:45 a.m. Sunday service. “Literature as Inspiration” presented by members of our congregation. Great literature can connect individuals with larger truths. Presenters will read passages that can enrich our experience of life and all its complexities.
10:50 a.m. Children’s Religious Education. The kids join us for the first part of the service, which includes a children’s story, then they adjourn to a classroom for their own activities. This week Kayla Spradlin will lead the group exploring the idea “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself.”
