What’s happening the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5

Join us this Sunday (Feb. 5) a special service with noted singer-songwriter Jim Scott, who will present “Gaia, Mother Earth and the Oneness of Everything.” (See below.)

After the service, as we do every first Sunday of the month, we’ll have a potluck lunch. Guests need bring only their appetites. Also noin us at 10:30 a.m. for coffee before the service. Here are the details for all the activities this week. (All events are at our Heiferhorn Way campus unless otherwise noted.)
Monday, Jan. 31
6:30 p.m. “Mindfulness and Yoga” class. This four-week class is full, but use our contact page to email us if you’re interested in future classes.
Wednesday, Feb. 1
6 p.m. UU Singers practice. All voices welcome.
7 p.m. Wednesday Night Discussion Group. This week it will meet in the Meditation Garden, so dress warmly. (If the weather is bad, we’ll move inside.) The topic is “Unburdening and Renewal: The Celtic Imbolc Ceremony.”
Thursday, Feb. 2
7 p.m. Exploring Spirituality. This group, open to all, discusses the wide range of spiritual practices followed by Unitarian Universalists.
Friday, Feb. 3
12:30 p.m. The UU Media Lunch, aka the Friday Lunch group. Founded by journalists. Open to all. We discuss events of the day and solve world crises. This week at the Mandarin Cafe on Veterans Parkway, near the Mellow Mushroom.
Sunday, Feb. 5
Childcare is available from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
9:30 a.m. Adult Religious Education. “History of the Bible,” led by Rick Spradlin.
9:30 a.m. UU Singers practice.
10:30 a.m. Coffee and conversation before the service.
10:45 a.m. Sunday service. This week singer-songwriter Jim Scott presents “Gaia, Mother Earth and the Oneness of Everything.”  Scott has brought his contemporary and multicultural music to more than 700 Unitarian Universalist churches over the past three decades. His much loved song “Gather the Spirit” and a number of others are included in the Unitarian Universalist hymnbook. Scott speaks with passion on ecology, justice and peace. As song-leader he lifts joyous participation from congregations.
10:50 a.m. Children’s Religious Education. The kids join us for the first part of the service, which includes a children’s story, then they adjourn to a classroom for their own activities.
